Are You Forming An Opinion Against Reality?
This is a technique you can use to be completely happy and at peace no matter what is going on in your life.
Let's make a hypothetical situation.
You just lost your job, you are 1 month from being evicted from your house. You have 3 children you need to feed. Image the feeling you have. PANIC!
Let's look at the cold, hard reality of the situation. The reality is, You just lost your job, you are 1 month from being evicted from your house. You have 3 children you need to feed.
No matter how much you complain, argue, yell, kick, or scream, what is the hard Reality? You just lost your job, you are 1 month from being evicted from your house. You have 3 children you need to feed.
Now admit it, you don't like being in this situation. You feel that things should be different. You should have more money. You should have a good paying job.
Although you feel this way, what is the reality?
You guessed it, You just lost your job, you are 1 month from being evicted from your house. You have 3 children you need to feed.
Now ask youself seriously,
How do I feel when I think that I should have a good paying job?
How do I feel when I think that I should not be 1 month from being evicted from my house?
Frustration, Anger, Anxiety, maybe?
Now Ask youself, Do I see any reason to keep these thoughts?
Notice, by thinking this way, you are trying to force your opinion on reality.
As long as you are trying to force your opinion on reality you usually end up unhappy.
Once you are ok with reality, you can make decisions based on logic, not fear and desperation. The decisions you make now will most likely be very helpful in your journey through the situation you are faced with.
Feel free to try this technique with any situation you are faced with.
Now the hard part, actually remembering to do this technique when you are in the middle of a difficult situation. Try adding "How do I feel when I think this thought?" to your Serenitext account, and hopefully you will receive that message when you need it the most.

Why is it so hard to get this stuff? Maybe I'll just stick to the 'Law of Attraction' principles instead.
In the above example, accepting "what is" right away frees up all that negative energy usually spent in despair over the unfairness of it all.
It gives you the freedom to tackle the problem at hand without distraction.
"All right, my job's gone so I need $2000 to cover the bills and food this month. How do I get $2000?"
Now you're focused on a target. Do you have ten unused things in your house you can sell for $200? No, but you do have three.
Okay, keep going. Will your neighbor pay you $300 to put in that vegetable garden they've been talikng about forever?
I'm sure you see the point. Disregarding all the "what-ifs" and dealing with "what-is" actually gives you the power to take action.
